How To Change Your Direct Deposit

Your direct deposit is the key to unlocking bank bonuses. Most bank bonuses require one or more direct deposits to qualify, and if you are not strategically directing your paycheck, you are leaving free money on the table. This guide shows you exactly how to change your direct deposit on every major payroll platform your employer might use — once you do it one time, future changes take less than 5 minutes.

Last updated: April 2026

If you have a job with direct deposit and you are not doing bank bonuses, your direct deposit is going to waste. You already get paid — you might as well get paid extra for where your money lands. By redirecting your direct deposit to a new bank that is offering a sign-up bonus, you can earn thousands of dollars per year in extra income with minimal effort. Think of it this way: your paycheck has to go somewhere — it might as well go somewhere that pays you a bonus for receiving it.

One important thing to know: most payroll systems require you to submit changes before a payroll cutoff date, often 3-7 days before payday. Depending on your employer, changes may take effect the next pay cycle or the one after. Plan ahead and make your changes well before you need the deposit to hit your new account. Some platforms also run a verification process on new accounts that can add additional days.

If you have never changed your direct deposit before, do not worry — it is completely reversible, does not affect your employment, payroll taxes, or benefits in any way, and takes just a few minutes. You can change it back at any time. Millions of people update their direct deposit information every year.

A Quick Note

Exact menu labels and options can vary slightly depending on how your employer has configured their payroll system. If you cannot find the exact menu item described below, try searching for 'direct deposit' or 'payment elections' inside the portal, or ask your HR or payroll team for help.

Before You Start

Before changing your direct deposit on any platform, you will need the following information for your new bank account:

  • Routing Number — A 9-digit number that identifies your bank. You can find this on a personal check (bottom left), in your bank's mobile app under account details, or by calling your bank.
  • Account Number — Your unique account number. Also found on checks, in your banking app, or by contacting your bank.
  • Account Type — Whether the account is Checking or Savings. Most direct deposits go to checking accounts. Some platforms (like Lyft) only accept checking accounts.

Double-Check Your Numbers

Before you submit any direct deposit change, triple-check your routing number and account number. If you enter the wrong numbers, your paycheck will likely bounce back to your employer's payroll department and you will receive it the following pay period instead. This is not the end of the world — your money is not lost — but it is an annoying delay that is easily avoided by taking an extra 30 seconds to verify your numbers.

Pro Tip for Bonus Hunters

Many payroll platforms let you split your direct deposit between multiple bank accounts. This is incredibly useful for bonus hunting — you can send a portion of your paycheck to a new bank to meet their direct deposit requirement while keeping most of your pay going to your primary account. Check the 'Split Deposits' column in the comparison table above or the 'Platform Overview' in each section below.

2

Strategy: How to Use Direct Deposit for Bank Bonuses

You do NOT need to permanently move your entire paycheck to earn bank bonuses. Most bonus hunters rotate their direct deposit every 1-3 months to collect multiple bonuses per year. Here is the basic strategy.

Temporary Switching

The simplest approach: change your entire direct deposit to the new bank, let 1-3 paychecks hit the account to satisfy the bonus requirement, then switch back to your primary bank (or on to the next bonus). This is the easiest method and what most people start with.

Using Split Deposits (The Power Move)

If your payroll platform supports splitting deposits — and most do — you can send a small amount (for example, $1 or $50) to the bonus bank while keeping the bulk of your paycheck going to your primary account. Many bank bonuses' direct deposit requirements are low — some as low as $200 — and a typical bonus will require a direct deposit of around $500 to $1,000. If your bonus requires $500 as a direct deposit, only send the required amount plus a bit extra (for example, $525 instead of $500) and keep the rest going to your everyday bank account. This makes doing bank bonuses less annoying, because the money you need for bills is already where it needs to be and you don't need to think about moving money around or changing which bank you pay your bills from.

Check the specific bonus terms on the Bank Bonuses page, where we list the direct deposit requirements for each offer.

Cycling Through Bonuses

Once you get comfortable with the process, you can cycle through bonuses continuously. A typical rotation looks like this: open a new bank account that has a bonus, redirect your direct deposit (or a split), wait for the bonus requirements to be met, collect the bonus, then move on to the next one. Many bonus hunters earn $1,000-$3,000+ per year doing this with minimal ongoing effort.

Pro Tip for Bonus Hunters

The goal is to make earning bank bonuses as little work as possible, so you do not have to think about it much or worry about where your money is when bills are due. The whole process of signing up for a new account, changing your direct deposit, moving out your deposit and bonus, and then closing the account should only take around 1-2 hours total. On a $300 bonus, that is basically getting paid $150/hour if it takes 2 hours.

To reduce the time you spend moving money around or adding new bank accounts to the websites where you pay bills, it helps to keep a few thousand dollars in your everyday bank account for recurring expenses. Changing which bank account you pay rent with every month gets annoying fast. For example, you can keep enough in your main bank to cover big bills (like rent and a car payment) and direct the rest to bonus hunting.

One of the easiest ways to use money in these new accounts without extra headache is to pay your credit card statement in full from the bonus account. Adding a new bank to one place takes 5 minutes, and you do not have to rewire multiple bill-pay websites. You can still do bank bonuses without a big buffer (or if your paycheck is not much more than your bills) by changing which accounts those big bills are paid from, but it adds time and annoyance.

Another option is to go to the bank in person, withdraw cash, and deposit it into the account you use to pay bills — but that takes more time. The goal with bank bonuses is to get money from the banks with as little work as possible.

How Many Direct Deposits Do You Need?

Check the bonus details on our Bank Bonuses page — each offer lists exactly how many direct deposits are required and over what time period. Some bonuses only need a single direct deposit. Others need 2-3 consecutive monthly deposits. Knowing this helps you plan your switches.

Workday

Workday

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Large enterprises, Fortune 500, universities, healthcare
Max Accounts: Commonly up to 10 (varies by employer)
Split Options: Amount, Percent, or Balance
Processing Time: Typically next pay cycle; new accounts may take 7-10 days to verify
Self-Service: Yes — through Payment Elections

Step 1: Log in to your Workday account. From the home screen, look for the "Pay" application icon, or type "Payment Elections" into the Workday search bar at the top.

Step 2: Click on "Payment Elections." This page shows your current direct deposit setup, including which bank accounts are on file and how your pay is distributed between them.

Step 3: To add a new bank account, click the "Add" button in the Accounts section. Enter your new bank's routing number (9 digits), account number, bank name, and select the account type (Checking or Savings). Give the account a nickname so you can identify it easily.

Step 4: Once the new account is added, scroll down to the Payment Elections section. Click "Edit" next to "Payroll" (or the relevant pay type). Change the Payment Type to "Direct Deposit" and select your new bank account from the Account dropdown.

Step 5: Choose how you want your pay distributed. Select "Balance" to send your entire paycheck to one account, "Amount" to send a specific dollar amount, or "Percent" to send a percentage. If splitting between accounts, one account must be set to "Balance" to catch the remainder.

Step 6: Click "OK" or "Submit" to save. You may need to re-enter your full account number for security verification. Some employers require administrator approval, so check your email for confirmation.

Workday Note

Depending on your employer's security settings, you may need to be on a company network or on-site to access Payment Elections. This is an employer-specific restriction, not a Workday limitation. If you cannot access it remotely, try from your workplace or contact your IT department.

ADP

ADP (Workforce Now)

Platform Overview

Typical Users: All sizes — largest payroll processor in the US
Max Accounts: Commonly up to 4 (varies by employer)
Split Options: Partial (fixed dollar amount) or Full (entire paycheck / remainder)
Processing Time: Typically effective next pay cycle (submit before payroll cutoff)
Self-Service: Yes — through ADP Portal or Workforce Now

Step 1: Log in at workforcenow.adp.com (or your company's specific ADP portal URL — ask HR if you are unsure). Some companies use ADP Run or ADP TotalSource, which have similar steps but slightly different menu labels.

Step 2: Navigate to "Myself" in the top menu, then click "Pay," then "Direct Deposit."

Step 3: Click the Add (+) button to add a new direct deposit account.

Step 4: Select a Deposit Number and Deduction Code. Choose "Full Deposit" to send your entire paycheck to this account, or "Partial Deposit" to send a specific dollar amount (note: ADP typically uses dollar amounts, not percentages, for partial deposits).

Step 5: Enter your 9-digit routing number (Transit/ABA number) and your bank account number. Double-check both for accuracy.

Step 6: Read the Direct Deposit Authorization Agreement at the bottom of the page. Check the box to agree, then click "Done" to save your setup.

Step 7: To add additional accounts, repeat steps 3-6.

ADP Note

If you delete a direct deposit account in ADP, the change goes into a "Pending" status until payroll has verified that you have another active direct deposit account set up. Always add your new account before removing the old one.

Tip

Some companies use different ADP products — ADP Run, ADP TotalSource, or ADP Workforce Now. The steps are similar across all of them, but the exact menu labels may differ slightly. If you cannot find "Direct Deposit" under "Pay," try looking under "Pay & Taxes" or ask your HR department for the specific navigation path.

Paychex Flex

Paychex Flex

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Small to mid-size businesses
Max Accounts: Multiple (varies by employer configuration)
Split Options: Percent of net pay, Fixed dollar amount, or Remainder of net pay
Processing Time: Requires administrator approval — allow 1-2 pay cycles
Self-Service: Yes — through Paychex Flex employee portal

Step 1: Log in to Paychex Flex at paychexflex.com. If this is your first time, click "Sign Up" and use the registration code your HR department provided.

Step 2: Navigate to your Profile, then select "Direct Deposit." You will see a list of your current direct deposit accounts.

Step 3: To add a new account, click "Add a Direct Deposit." Select the account type (Checking or Savings), enter the routing number and account number.

Step 4: Choose how much of your pay goes to this account — Percent of net pay, a Fixed dollar amount, or Remainder of net pay. If you want your entire paycheck going to one account, select "Remainder of net pay."

Step 5: Click "Confirm Changes" and then check the box that says "I acknowledge and accept this request for Direct Deposit(s)." Click "Submit for Approval."

Step 6: Your request is sent to your payroll administrator for approval. You will receive an email when it is approved or denied.

Paychex Note

Unlike some other platforms, Paychex requires administrator approval for all direct deposit changes. This means your change is not instant — plan ahead and submit your change well before you need it to take effect. If your request is denied, you will receive an email with instructions to fix and resubmit.

Gusto

Gusto

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Startups and small businesses
Max Accounts: Up to 5 bank accounts
Split Options: Percentage or Dollar amount
Processing Time: Instant verification via Plaid, or 2-3 business days for manual entry
Self-Service: Yes — employees manage their own bank info
Official Help: support.gusto.com

Step 1: Sign in to Gusto at gusto.com. Click "My Profile" from the main menu.

Step 2: Under "Information," click "Pay." This shows your current bank account(s) and payment method.

Step 3: To add a new account, click "Add payment method." You can either verify instantly through Plaid (by logging into your bank) or enter your routing and account numbers manually.

Step 4: If you want to split your pay between accounts, choose whether to split by percentage or dollar amount. For percentage splits, your percentages must add up to 100%. For dollar splits, you can drag bank names to reorder which accounts get funded first.

Step 5: Click "Save." If you used manual entry, Gusto will send a test transaction to verify — this may take 2-3 business days.

Step 6: To remove an old account, click the Actions menu (three dots) next to the bank you want to remove, then click "Delete." You will need to complete a security check (2-step verification code).

Gusto Warning

If you remove your only bank account in Gusto, all future payrolls will be classified as "paper check" instead of direct deposit. Always add your new account before removing the old one. If you change your bank account after a payment has already been processed, the payment will still go to the previous account.

UKG

UKG Pro / UKG Ready (formerly Kronos)

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Large employers — healthcare, retail, manufacturing
Max Accounts: Multiple (varies by employer configuration)
Split Options: Flat Amount, Percentage, or Available Balance (entire remainder)
Processing Time: Typically 1-2 pay cycles; some employers use prenote verification (up to 10 business days), but many modern setups skip this step
Self-Service: Yes — through HR Actions / Self-Service portal
Official Help: UKG Coach

For UKG Pro: Navigate to Menu > My Info > Pay > Direct Deposit. At "Things I Can Do," select "Add" or "Add Direct Deposit." Enter bank name, routing number (9 digits), account number, and account type (Checking or Savings). Choose your allocation — Flat Amount for a specific dollar amount, Percentage for a percent of your pay, or "Available Balance" (also called "Entire/Remainder") to deposit whatever is left after other allocations. Click Save.

For UKG Ready: Log in to UKG Ready. Open the Main Menu (three lines, top left). Expand "My Information" and select "My HR." Click on "HR Actions" and find "Direct Deposit Change_Self Service" or similar. Click "Start." Click the "+Add" button. Enter your banking information. Set the "Calculation Method" — if you want your whole paycheck in one account, choose "Entire/Remainder." Enter your routing number and account number twice for verification. Click Save.

To modify an existing deposit in UKG: Do NOT edit the existing account directly. Instead, set an "Active To" end date on your current deposit (use the end of the current pay period), then add a new deposit starting the day after. The "Active From" date on your new deposit must be the day after you ended the old one.

UKG Note

Some employers use a "prenote" verification process (test deposits) that can take up to 10 business days, but many modern setups skip this step entirely — check with your HR department. During verification, you may receive a paper check instead of direct deposit. Also, at least one direct deposit account must always be set to "Available Balance" (Entire/Remainder).

Paylocity

Paylocity

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Mid-market companies
Max Accounts: Multiple (main account + additional accounts)
Split Options: Dollar amount ($), Percentage (%), or Net Minus
Processing Time: Submit at least 5 business days before payday; new accounts may need prenote verification
Self-Service: Yes — through Employee Self-Service portal

Step 1: Log in to Paylocity at access.paylocity.com using your Company ID, username, and password.

Step 2: On the Employee Self-Service dashboard, find the "Pay" tile. Click "More" in the bottom right corner of the tile to expand additional options.

Step 3: Select "Direct Deposit Accounts." You will see a dropdown showing any existing accounts.

Step 4: To add a new account, select "Add New Direct Deposit Account" from the dropdown. Select your Account Type (Checking, Savings, or Pay Card). Enter your 9-digit routing number (no dashes or spaces) and account number (no spaces or symbols, 17-character limit). Enter the name on the account.

Step 5: For your main account, you can simply save — the entire paycheck will go to this account. For additional accounts, select the Amount Type: "$" for a flat dollar amount, "%" for a percentage, or "Net Minus" (issues a live check for the dollar amount entered, with the balance deposited into the bank account). Enter the amount.

Step 6: Click Save. To change the order in which accounts are funded, use the radio button and up/down arrows.

Paylocity Note

Direct deposit changes in Paylocity should be submitted at least 5 business days before your next pay date. Until the bank account is verified, you may receive paper checks.

Paycom

Paycom

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Mid-market, growing fast
Max Accounts: Up to 5 accounts (common default)
Split Options: Dollar amount, Percentage, or Remainder
Processing Time: Next pay cycle
Self-Service: Yes — through Paycom Employee Self-Service app and website
Login URL: paycom.com

Step 1: Log in to Paycom via the website or the Paycom mobile app. Enter your username, password, and the last four digits of your SSN (or your PIN).

Step 2: Navigate to "Payroll" from the main screen. Click on "Direct Deposit."

Step 3: To add a new account, tap "Add Account." Choose whether this will be your main direct deposit account or an additional account, then tap "Continue."

Step 4: Enter your Bank Name, Routing Number, and Account Number. You can enter these manually (you will need to enter the routing and account numbers twice for verification) OR tap "Scan Check" and take a picture of a blank check to auto-fill the information.

Step 5: Choose how to distribute your pay — as a specific dollar amount, a percentage, or "Remainder" (everything left after other allocations).

Step 6: Click "Sign and Update" or "Submit" to save. A confirmation pop-up will appear for you to attest to the information.

Paycom Note

Paycom requires all employees to have a direct deposit account in the system to be paid — you cannot opt for paper checks if your company uses Paycom. When updating, you may need to click "Clear Fields" before entering new bank details. Review your entry multiple times — errors in routing or account numbers will delay your pay.

Dayforce

Ceridian Dayforce

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Large mid-market and enterprise
Max Accounts: Multiple (varies by employer configuration)
Split Options: Fixed amount, Percentage, or Remainder (leave amount blank)
Processing Time: May take 1-2 pay cycles; some employers have disabled prenote for faster processing
Self-Service: Yes — through Dayforce Self-Service
Official Help: help.dayforce.com

Step 1: Log in to Dayforce. On the home page, click "Profile & Settings" (located under your name and role).

Step 2: Navigate to "Forms" and then find "Direct Deposit" under the Personal section. Alternatively, look for "Changes to Direct Deposits" in the self-service menu.

Step 3: To add a new account, click "Add." Enter the bank name, routing number, account number, and account type.

Step 4: Set the deposit amount. To deposit your entire net pay into one account, leave the amount field blank — Dayforce will deposit whatever remains after other allocations. To split, enter a specific dollar amount or use a percentage for one account and leave the other as the remainder.

Step 5: If you have multiple accounts, use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons to set the priority order. The last account should be set as the "Remainder" to catch everything not allocated to other accounts.

Step 6: Click "Submit" or "Save." Your request is forwarded to your payroll administrator, and you can check the status on the "Requests in Process" page.

Dayforce Warning

If you enter an incorrect account or routing number, your employer cannot issue replacement payments until the deposited funds are returned via the banking system. This can take up to 7 days. Some employers have disabled the prenote verification process so changes take effect immediately — but this also means there is no safety net if your numbers are wrong. Double-check carefully.

QuickBooks Payroll

QuickBooks Payroll

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Very small businesses (1-50 employees)
Max Accounts: Varies — often employer-managed
Split Options: Employer configurable
Processing Time: 2-3 business days for verification (test transactions)
Self-Service: Limited — often employer-managed

If your employer allows employee self-service through QuickBooks Workforce:

Step 1: Log in to QuickBooks Workforce (workforce.intuit.com). Your employer should have sent you an invitation to set this up.

Step 2: Navigate to "Payment Method" in your profile settings. Click "Edit" to update your bank information.

Step 3: Enter your new routing number and account number. Click "Save."

If your employer manages direct deposit changes for you (more common with small businesses using QuickBooks):

Step 1: Provide your new bank account details (routing number, account number, account type) to your employer or payroll administrator.

Step 2: Your employer will update your information in QuickBooks by going to Payroll > Employees > selecting your name > Payment method > Edit > entering the new bank account information > Save.

Step 3: QuickBooks will send a test transaction (two small deposits) to your new bank account for verification. This takes 2-3 business days.

QuickBooks Tip

Since QuickBooks Payroll is typically used by very small businesses, you may not have a self-service portal at all. In that case, simply email or tell your employer your new bank details and ask them to update your direct deposit. It is that simple.

Rippling

Rippling

Platform Overview

Typical Users: Tech companies, rapidly growing across all sizes
Max Accounts: Multiple
Split Options: Dollar amount or Percentage
Processing Time: Typically effective next pay cycle
Self-Service: Yes — employees manage their own banking info
Official Help: help.rippling.com

Step 1: Log in to Rippling at app.rippling.com or open the Rippling mobile app.

Step 2: Navigate to your payment settings. This is commonly found under "My Pay" > "Bank Accounts" or under the Finance menu > "Payment Information." The exact label depends on your company's Rippling configuration — if you cannot find it, try searching "direct deposit" or "bank account" in Rippling's search bar.

Step 3: Click on your current bank account information, or click "Edit" / "Update" to modify your bank details.

Step 4: Enter your new routing number, account number, and account type.

Step 5: Click "Save" to submit the changes. Your HR department may receive a notification about the update.

Rippling Tip

Rippling is newer than the other platforms on this list, so the interface is generally more modern and intuitive. If you set up your bank information during onboarding, the process to change it later is essentially the same flow.

Bonus: Side Hustle & Gig App Direct Deposits

Your side hustle income may count too. Some bank bonuses accept gig app deposits as qualifying direct deposits, but this varies by bank and promotion — it depends on how the deposit is coded (ACH vs. payroll). Always check the specific bonus terms on the Bank Bonuses page before relying on gig income alone. That said, if it works, it is a great way to meet bonus requirements without touching your primary paycheck. Here is how to change your payout bank on each major gig platform.

DoorDash

DoorDash

Platform Overview

Platform Type: Food delivery (Dasher)
Payout Schedule: Weekly direct deposit (Mon-Sun earnings paid weekly)

Step 3: Select "Add Bank Account" to add a new bank or update your existing bank information.

Step 4: You may be asked to allow camera access and provide a picture of your ID for verification.

Step 5: Enter your bank's routing number and account number. Make sure this is a checking account — DoorDash does not pay to savings accounts.

Step 6: Enter the 2-step verification code sent to you via text or email to confirm the change.

DoorDash Note

DoorDash only deposits to checking accounts. After changing your bank details, it may take 1-2 pay cycles for the new account to be verified.

Uber

Uber

Platform Overview

Platform Type: Rideshare and delivery
Payout Schedule: Weekly direct deposit (earnings deposited by Tuesday)
Instant Pay: Yes — cash out up to 5x/day with Instant Pay (debit card required)

Step 5: Click "Submit" to save. You can also update your bank details via the web at wallet.uber.com.

Uber Timing Warning

Changes to your Uber bank account can delay your weekly earnings by 3-5 business days. To avoid delays, submit bank account changes before 4:00 AM local time on Monday so your next earnings go to the new account. If a deposit goes to your old account, contact your old bank to retrieve the funds — Uber cannot redirect it.

Platform Type: Rideshare
Payout Schedule: Weekly — transfers start on Tuesdays, arrive within 1-3 business days
Instant Pay: Yes — Express Pay to a debit card ($1.75 fee per transfer)
Account Requirement: Personal checking accounts ONLY (no savings, no business accounts)

Step 5: After you submit or update your bank info, Lyft may send you a text message to confirm the change. Reply to the text to finalize.

Lyft Restriction

Lyft can only transfer earnings to personal checking accounts. They do not accept savings accounts or business accounts. If you get a failed transfer notice, the most common reason is incorrect bank info. Lyft agents cannot update your banking or tax information for you for security reasons — you must do it yourself.

Shipt

Shipt

Troubleshooting Common Issues

"My direct deposit did not go to my new account"

The most common reason is that the change was submitted after the payroll cutoff date. Most employers lock in direct deposit instructions 3-7 days before payday. If you missed the cutoff, the change will take effect the following pay cycle. Your money is not lost — it went to whatever account was on file at the time of the cutoff.

"My deposit was returned / bounced"

This happens when the routing number or account number was entered incorrectly. The funds will be returned to your employer's payroll department, and you will typically receive the payment on the following pay period (sometimes as a paper check). Contact your HR or payroll team and double-check your bank details before resubmitting.

"My new account is stuck in verification / prenote"

Some payroll systems send a small test deposit (called a "prenote") to verify your new account. This can take up to 10 business days, during which you may receive paper checks. Many modern systems skip this step, so if you have been waiting a long time, check with your HR department.

"I cannot find the direct deposit settings in my portal"

Try searching for "direct deposit," "payment elections," or "bank account" in your portal's search bar. If that does not work, your employer may have restricted self-service changes — contact your HR or payroll department directly.

"Can I change my direct deposit on my phone?"

Most modern payroll platforms (Workday, ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Paycom, Paylocity, Rippling) have mobile apps or mobile-friendly websites that support direct deposit changes. All of the gig apps (DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, Shipt) are mobile-first.

18

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to change my direct deposit?

A: The actual change takes less than 5 minutes once you know where to go. However, it may take 1-2 pay cycles for the change to take effect, depending on when you submit it relative to your payroll cutoff date. Some systems also run a verification process on new accounts that can add a few days.

Q: Can I split my paycheck between multiple bank accounts?

A: Yes — most major payroll platforms support splitting your deposit by dollar amount or percentage. This is one of the most powerful tools for bonus hunting because you can send a small portion of your paycheck to a new bonus bank while keeping the rest at your primary bank.

Q: Can I use a savings account for direct deposit?

A: For most employer payroll platforms (Workday, ADP, Gusto, etc.), yes — you can choose between checking and savings. However, some gig apps like Lyft only accept checking accounts. Check the specific platform's requirements.

Q: Will changing my direct deposit affect my taxes?

A: No. Changing where your paycheck is deposited has no effect on your taxes, withholdings, or benefits. Your employer deducts the same taxes regardless of which bank account receives your pay.

Q: Do gig app deposits count as qualifying direct deposits for bank bonuses?

A: Some banks count them and some do not — it depends on how the deposit is coded (ACH vs. payroll). Always check the specific bonus terms on the Bank Bonuses page, or test with a small deposit first before relying on gig income to qualify.

Q: What happens if I enter the wrong routing or account number?

A: Your paycheck will bounce back to your employer's payroll department. You will not lose the money, but you will experience a delay — typically receiving it the following pay period, sometimes as a paper check. This is easily avoided by double-checking your numbers.

Q: Can my employer see which bank I use?

A: Your employer (specifically, the payroll team) can see the bank name, routing number, and last four digits of your account number — this is standard for processing payroll. They cannot see your account balance, transactions, or any other account activity.
